Dear NC AP Educator,
You are invited to participate in AP Day at the Capitol on May 7 to urge the reinstatement of Advanced Placement (AP) funds in this year’s budget. The budget passed by the North Carolina Senate includes (1) drastic cuts to AP Exam funding, aiding only those students identified as economically disadvantaged, and (2) the elimination of the North Carolina AP Partnership (NCAPP). If passed, these changes will severely impede efforts to increase access to AP coursework for students in your district and others across the state. We need your support to address this issue.
As we enter the AP Exam window, we urge educators outside the classroom to meet with lawmakers in-person.
Here are the details:
Who: Administrators, principals, district leaders, counselors, parents, etc.
What: Arrange in-person meetings with your Senator and Representative and deliver a College Board prepared handout to the offices of key legislators on the Education and Appropriation Committees along with your business card (additional guidance will be provided).
When: Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 10:00AM – 3:00PM
Where: North Carolina Legislative Buildings, Raleigh.
Why: Please ask the General Assembly to reinstate the budget allocation to fully fund the NC AP Partnership and AP Exams for all public-school students.
How: To join us in Raleigh, please complete this RSVP form by Monday, May 5.
Prep Call: A planning call for educators who plan to participate has been scheduled for Friday May 2nd from 3:30-3:55PM. Here is the invitation for the Teams call.
The College Board North Carolina team will be onsite on May 7 to support. If you need reimbursement for any associated travel, lodging or meal costs, please indicate such on the survey and a member of the College Board team will be in touch with you.
If you can’t attend in person, please consider contacting your legislators via email. Please identify your personal Senators and Representatives utilizing the links below. Also please feel free to share this invitation with others.
