Funding Update

Great news! NCDPI Superintendent Mo Green has made the decision to continue funding Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge International (CIE) exam fees for all students in North Carolina’s public high schools!

You may recall from previous NCAGT posts that the NC Senate had proposed to eliminate funding for AP/IB/CIE exam fees for our NC high school students in its budget proposal. The NC House proposed to keep the funding. As of now, there is a stalemate on the state budget and future funding remains up in the air.

In Superintendent Green’s most recent announcement, funding for AP/IB/CIE exam fees, as well as the partnership with the NC AP Partnership, will continue this year. This means that students in public schools around the state can take AP/IB/CIE exams at no cost to their families. This is a significant savings (average of $100 per exam) and continues the amazing work of the NCAPP in increasing access and excellence in advanced learning for high school students.

Although NCDPI has made the admiral decision to continue this funding, the fight for advanced learners is not over. Please take a moment to reach out to your representatives to share the importance of this funding for our high school students in North Carolina!

Thank you, NCDPI, for your continued support of ALL NC students!
