Meetings That Include Students - "What I Did Last Summer" — students tell about summer camp or other special activities (beginning of year or in January or February when parents start thinking about plans for summer)
- Ice cream social — members and students get together to enjoy ice cream and cookies
- Beginning (or end) of the year picnic - members and students
- Student Showcase — students display and speak about their projects (middle or end of year)
- Summer programs — representatives from programs speak to members (could be combined with "What I Did this Summer")
- School year programs (such as Super Saturday, museum activities) — representatives from programs speak to members
- Planning for college — for parents and students 6th grade and up (good program for last winter or early spring when students are choosing courses for the next year)
- Art class — a teacher does art or craft activities with students and parents
- "Trash Can Science" — a teacher or science museum volunteer demonstrates science activities with trash (plastic bottles, string, magnets, etc.)
- Community volunteer opportunities
Speakers on Topics of Interest to Parents and Teachers of Gifted - Focus on the AIG Program - AIG coordinator and teachers explain the program (good first meeting of the year)
- Characteristics of gifted
- Social and emotional needs of gifted
- How to meet the educational needs of gifted
- "What About Home School?"
- Thinking skills (could include students)
- Study skills (could include students)
- Perfectionism
- Advocacy
- What teachers expect from parents
Special Events and Activities - Academic Banquet honoring the AIG students (at end of year; could also invite their teachers)
- Roadside trash collection or stream clean-up — members and students could participate in a community activity or organize their own
